The Yammer desktop application was architected to provide a desktop user experience that was comparable to the web application experience. The desktop application needed to be useful to anyone who prefers to work from a client vs. website. It was crucial that the user never missed an important message with the addition of growl notifications and unread message counts.
I was responsible for the UX of the application for greater usability and a smaller footprint. I worked directly with engineers to quickly modify the interaction design as we iterated on the app. Visual design was by Paul Bloch.
